While there is an abundance of opportunity, applying for international grants can be challenging and confusing, especially for those unfamiliar with the requirements and expectations of various international funding systems. The Research Office is here to help says International Program Grants Maggie Wang who helps UTS researchers win international funding together with International Grants Officer Sophie Petrovski.
“We are here to support you to achieve your international research goals,” Maggie said. “We can help you to decipher hidden message in program guidelines and can work with you to develop a checklist as you develop your proposal so that you don't miss tiny but important details.”
Get help with international funding applications
The International Team in the UTS Research Office can help you develop a budget to include in your proposal. They also coordinate with relevant staff to help you navigate integrity and risk assessment.
“When you work internationally, you need to have cultural sensitivity and be aware of the diverse perspectives in different countries – we can help you with that as well,” Maggie said, adding that she would like to see more UTS researchers including international research collaborations as part of their long-term vision.

“Our International Research Funding Toolkit contains information, resources and best practice examples related to all aspects of international grants management, including grant writing, proposal development, the funding landscape, submission requirements and UTS internal policies and processes,” Maggie said.
The International Grants team can provide advice and support to increase your chances of success in securing international funding, including in these areas:
- Finding the right opportunity for your research career stage
- Advising on eligibility requirements for different grant types
- Sharing insights from past recipients of various programs
- Helping you tailor your research experience to the particular focus areas set out in program guidelines
- Pointing you to helpful resources such as the Research Finance dashboard and eResearch tools that help communicate your impact including visually.
