Event Description:
Expand your inclusive practitioner toolkit by engaging deeply with the equity, social justice and social inclusion literature and exploring a range of useful activities and strategies.
This interactive microcredential will introduce you to the fundamentals of equity, human rights and social justice and their role in shaping the higher education space. You will reflect on student and staff experiences, your own values and practices, and explore practical solutions and strategies that you will be able to integrate into your professional and social practices.
During the course you will:
- Explore the mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion in higher education
- Gain an understanding of the experiences of historically marginalised groups
- Consider how culture, diversity and identity impact on learning and social interaction
- Examine the principles for inclusion and adapt them to your own professional context in higher education
- Learn how to create conditions for change that produce greater inclusion and wider participation
- Identify opportunities to translate your theoretical learning into practice in your own work and life
By the end of the course, you’ll understand barriers to diversity and be ready to design practical solutions with inclusion at their core.
