About the Domestic and Family Violence Network
The UTS Domestic and Family Violence Network is a collaborative initiative dedicated to on advancing research, policy, and practice related to domestic and family violence. The network brings together researchers to explore innovative solutions, inform evidence-based interventions, and improve outcomes for individuals and communities affected by violence.
“The Domestic and Family Violence Network is a university-wide collaborative initiative which brings together the academic community to address one of the most urgent and pernicious problems of our time - family and domestic violence,” said co-lead, Dr Mihajla Gavin, Senior Lecturer UTS Business School.
Through multidisciplinary research and partnerships, the network aims to drive effective prevention strategies, enhance support services, and inform policy development to address family and domestic violence.
Effective research on domestic and family violence requires holistic and interdisciplinary responses. Despite this I often feel like we work in silos and only hear about each other’s work at conferences!
Mihajla said the Network provides a rich opportunity to connect across faculties and drive forward needed solutions for change.
Co-lead Dr Jane Wangmann, Associate Professor Faculty of Law agreed and said this Network will help us showcase the excellent and innovative work taking place at UTS to build on it and collaborate more effectively.
“Effective research on domestic and family violence requires holistic and interdisciplinary responses,” said Jane. “Despite this I often feel like we work in silos and only hear about each other’s work at conferences!”
Strategic objectives
The aim of the Domestic and Family Violence Network is to encourage collaboration on research projects across disciplines, share ideas, and contribute to the development of evidence-based interventions to address domestic & family violence.
Members of DFV@UTS will have the opportunity to:
