Does your research at UTS concern women and children’s health? Join the UTS Women and Children’s Health Research Collaborative from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm on Wednesday 12 November in RES Hub for an in-person event that will bring together researchers from across the university. Share insights, build connections and shape the future of research that improves health outcomes for women, children and young people.
Spotlight on women and children’s health
As part of the INSIGHT: Institute for Innovative Solutions for Wellbeing and Health, the Collaborative plays a vital role in connecting researchers, industry partners and communities to generate evidence that shapes policy and practice.
With members spanning health, science, law, education and other fields, the Collaborative focuses on delivering practical, evidence-based solutions grounded in equity, human rights and care.
“This event is a fantastic opportunity to connect researchers across faculties around shared goals in women and children’s health,” said Associate Professor Lana McClements, Co-Convenor of the UTS Women and Children’s Health Research Collaborative and Heart Foundation Fellow with the School of Life Sciences.
“Pan-university collaboration is essential if we are to develop innovative, high-impact research that translates into meaningful applications, policy and practice.”
The afternoon will begin with a panel showcasing current Collaborative and INSIGHT projects, followed by ‘Pitch the Future’ - a rapid-fire round of research pitches, spotlighting new opportunities for collaboration.
The event will conclude with a workshop where participants will break into groups to explore shared interests, research gaps, and opportunities for future partnership aligned with WCHC’s four key themes:
- Children and Young People
- Pregnancy and Healthy Environments
- Reproductive Health and Rights
- Women’s Health and Ageing
“This Collaborative is about more than generating knowledge, it’s about making sure that knowledge leads to real change,” said Professor Jennifer Fenwick, Co-Convenor and Head of Midwifery.
“Our research is designed to inform public health, clinical management, policy, practice, and ultimately improve the health and wellbeing of women, children and families across all stages of life.”
