National Funding Opportunities

Researchers at UTS have access to specialist teams that provide end to end support in securing competitive grants across research disciplines. 

National Funders

National competitive research grants are underpinned by peer review and are managed through these bodies:
 

• Australian Research Council (ARC) 

• National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), including the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).

• Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) 

Other schemes are on offer from the Australian Federal Government and the NSW State Government including:

• Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) 

• The Rural Research and Development Corporations (RDCs)   

• Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) 

• Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs) 

• Australia’s Economic Accelerator

• NSW Chief Scientist & Engineer

Assistance with applications

The UTS Research Office is the source of national funding guidance and application assistance for both pre and post award.  

It is recommended you contact both your Faculty research team and the Research Grants Team as soon as you have decided to apply for funding to access expert knowledge and support. 

Attend training

All UTS researchers are encouraged to participate in training offered by UTS Aspire, a research development initiative that supports the vibrant research, and research support community at UTS by providing opportunities that develop capabilities aligned with the Research Outcomes Capability Framework, encourage collaboration and support research excellence.
