Researchers at UTS have access to specialist teams that provide end to end support in securing competitive grants across research disciplines. If you intend to apply for funding under any of the categories below, get in touch with your Faculty Research Team as well as the Grants Team at least 6 months before a funding opportunity closes to get the support you need to prepare a strong application.
University research income and funding is commonly grouped into four categories:
Category 1: Australian Competitive Grant Research Income
These are national competitive research grants, underpinned by peer review and managed through these bodies:
National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), including the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).
Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)
Category 2: Other Public Sector Research Funding
Public sector research funding from all levels of government, including partly government-owned or funded bodies and government business enterprises.

Category 3: Industry and other Funding Research Income
This category includes funding from Australian industry, philanthropy and other non-government sources, as well as international funding. It includes funds raised through donations, bequests, charities and foundations, both Australian and international.

UTS has moved from Research Professional to Pivot-RP, a database that enables you to search for grants, awards, fellowships and other opportunities including from UTS. Assistance with applications
The UTS Research Office is the source of national funding guidance and application assistance for both pre and post award.
It is strongly recommended you contact both your Faculty research team and the Research Grants Team as soon as you have decided to apply for funding to access expert knowledge and support.
Attend training
