Creating meaningful change through research impact is at the heart of the UTS 2030 Strategy. But what does research impact really mean? How can you plan for it, and how can you demonstrate it?
Spotlight on research impact

Research impact is a foundational capability in the Research Outcomes Capability Framework (ROC-F) that underpins how we develop research talent at UTS and help staff create their research developmental plans.
This capability encompasses understanding the benefits of proactive engagement and planning for impact, the difference between academic and societal impact and the increasing prominence of engagement and impact on the Australian research landscape.
It also includes the ability to plan and link research activities to impact, engage with end-users for mutual benefit and communicate research impact effectively to broad audiences for various outcomes.

Catherine notes that the vision for UTS, as outlined in the UTS 2030 Strategy, is 'a leading public university of technology recognised for our global impact’.
“Research impact is a key part of that global impact and therefore requires attention, understanding and reflection to ensure we are doing all we can to make positive changes for and with our communities, industries and partners,” she said.
