The UTS Ageing Research Collaborative (UARC) is excited to announce the launch of its monthly UARC Research Seminar Series starting 18 June 2025 in RES Hub.
Attend the UTS Ageing Research Collaborative seminar series

UARC is led by UTS academics from multiple faculties working in collaboration with researchers from other universities, aged-care providers, health services, government agencies and consumer groups with the aim of identifying evidence-based solutions to the issues facing ageing and aged care.
Professor David Brown said, “The big challenge for the aged care sector in Australia is how it can become economically, socially and environmentally sustainable. UARC undertakes trans-disciplinary research to contribute to practice and inform policy.”
UARC's research focus is producing a broad evidence base to improve the quality of care for older Australians.
The UARC Research Seminar Series is an opportunity for you to hear from leading voices in ageing research. Come along to connect, collaborate and grow with a vibrant community of researchers passionate about ageing and aged care that is sustainable in terms of its fiscal, financial, workforce and social dimensions.
The UARC Research Seminar Series has three key objectives:
- Provide an opportunity to share ideas and connect with colleagues in UARC and beyond who have an interest in the ageing and aged care
- Share new and current research
- Build capacity and develop research skills and knowledge.
Professor Deborah Parker said, “UARC's research focus is producing a broad evidence base to improve the quality of care for older Australians.”
The first seminar in the UARC series will take place on 18 June 2025, when attendees will hear from Professor Phillippa Carnemolla, co-lead of the UARC theme of Innovation and Design, addressing Delivering Sustainable Support at Home – housing readiness and community care.
“The design and location of housing doesn’t just affect older people — it shapes the community care workforce,” Phillipa said.
Sustainable aged care depends on homes that are accessible, well-located, minimise the intensity and complexity of care required and maximise the safety of care providers.
“Sustainable aged care depends on homes that are accessible, well-located, minimise the intensity and complexity of care required and maximise the safety of care providers.”
“If we want aged care to be connected to the community, dignified and sustainable, we must treat all housing as part of the aged care system, not separate from it.”
