Research Life-cycle

Knowledge of:

• The stages of the research life-cycle as stated in the research management policy (Preparation and submission of a research proposal, research contract negotiation, commencement of the research project, management and reporting, completion and project closure). 
• Best practice in research project management (e.g. research ethics and integrity; policy and procedures; data management policy and systems; IP management and security).
• UTS pre- and post-award grant systems.
• Academic outputs, impact and performance metrics.
• Corporate expectations of UTS researchers.
• Knowledge of relevant UTS policies, procedures and systems.
• UTS procurement policies and practices.
• UTS GRS policy and Graduate Research Study Plans.
• UTS resources available to support the research life-cycle.

Ability to:

• Develop research proposals including the formulation and justification of research questions, critically evaluating and selecting appropriate methodology, estimating required resources etc.)
• Manage research projects in an efficient and timely manner (e.g. research, budgets, staff).
• Identify and manage risk.
• Manage data – planning for re-use and reproducibility; archiving; sharing with appropriate audiences.
• Manage research team relationships. 
• Develop and protect IP in research projects where appropriate.
• Report research using performance analysis tools.
• Develop digital literacy for literature searching, referencing, and bibliometric analyses.
